Health problems that might occur with amphetamine abuse
and advice on how to stay fit

Apart from the risk of getting abused by the police, the abuse of amphetamine may pose some other dangers to your health. Most of these, of course, mainly apply to people who use it often. If you snort twice a month, or only use medicinal doses, your teeth won't rot or a psychosis occur. But if you do a lot of it twice a week, for a year, watch out for at least some depression, paranoia and maybe ction.

Please remember that everyone is different when it comes to how drugs affect the body. Your friend might be able to snort four times more - or four times more often - than you, without getting burned. Or vice versa.

Here follows a list with all the health hazards that I know of.

Possible dangers:
What to do to stay healthy:
If unlucky, you might get impure unhealthy speed. If you want to be on the safe side, test the purity of your speed.
Your brains storage of neurotransmitters gets depleted. When you are a newbie, or young, this probably won't be a problem. But many users will eventually experience a deep depression the days following a night on speed. And if you've been abusing for a long time, this depression might, in extreme cases, lead to suicide.

You can always eat some dopamine precursors to ease the comedown.

If you start to get these horrible depressions it might be a good idea to start using a lot less.

Speed and MAOIs mixes like nitro and glycerin. Don't use speed if you are taking MAOIs.
Your stomachs breakdown of food slows down leading to decreased appetite and thirst. With abuse malnutrition or even anorexia might occur. Always take a multi-vitamin pill or two before a night on speed. It's preferable if they contain all vitamins and minerals but especially important are the B-vitamins and vitamin C. Also try to eat some complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains.
Try to drink a lot of water. It will make you feel better.
Amphetamines should never be used during pregnancy or breast feeding.
Do not use speed if you're having a baby. Not even once.
You can get addicted so bad that it might be impossible to stop using without help.

Do not use too much, too often or for too long.
If you want to quit, but can't, help is here.

Some amphetamines, especially meth, are believed to cause permanent damage to nerve cells (if used heavily). Just like alcohol.

Paranoia and anxiety become more frequent and last longer with ongoing use. Abuse may lead to psychosis. Permanent psychological problems might develop if you continue using even though you've gotten a psychosis.
Don't use too much, too often or for too long. Eating vitamins might protect your brain, at least to some extent.
The heart beats faster and harder. High blood pressure can lead to an increased risk of a heart attack. Don't use too much, or too long and don't use at all if you got a weak heart.
Dental health may deteriorate due to mouth getting dry and a decreased blood flow in your gums. Use dental floss before you party on speed. Also try to drink some water once or twice every hour. It's a good idea to brush your teeth before going to bed.
If you overdose, you might get so sick that you just can't eat for days or not even drink water. Follow these steps if this happens to you.
Amphetamine changes the way your lungs work allowing them to increase the intake of oxygen. This process can actually, in the long run, permanently reduce the amount of air the lungs can take in. Don't use too much, too often or for too long.

Speed causes the kidneys to produce less urine leading to toxic wastes getting recycled back into the bloodstream.

The liver tries to clean our blood from toxins. But the toxins that result when speed gets broken down cause an overload of work for your liver. This also results in an increased amount of toxic substances in your blood.

These toxins may cause headaches, a dangerous increase in blood pressure, a severe lack of oxygen and blood to the brain, greatly increased body temperature, bladder infections, fatal kidney disorder, liver disorder, passing out, a heart attack, stroke, or coma.

NB: Most of this will of course only occur if you abuse.

Don't use too much, too often or for too long.
