I have tried other driver options people have suggested…but this one is the only solution to the F5U adapter. Thanks alot for your support, this helped a lot of guys to get thier softwares using serial ports working fine. Being a computer system administrator and programmer by trade, I knew there would be no physical reason the device would not work under a 64 bit operating system. I just wanted to let you know that Phillips the maker of the chip has ceased production and neither we nor MCT are able to source them anymore, so the adapter in question is officially EOL and there will be no further driver updates.
If the adapter is not supported by windows but you should give it back to salesman and get a new one compatible with windows 7. You can’t post answers that contain an email address. We have a device that will only work with serial ports and we have been advising customers to get adaptors like the belkin USBtoserial to get around the problem of not having COM ports on new PCs and also because Belkin advertised the adaptor have lifetime warranty this gives the customers some comfort in using them.
But sadly nothing about the Belkin F5U adaptor.
I downloaded it to run the F5U on my Windows 8 machine. Worked great in Windows 7 bit. It installed drivers from Prolific Technology so Belkin updated the drivers but is not putting on their site. Michael said, This worked for us too — thanks! Wayne said, has anyone got these working for Windows 8? So I downloaded the driver UP9 Driver. Kudos to wincows and boo to Microsoft.
